Soho Sadie (2021 Web Series)
Soho Sadie - Promotional Short
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9cd4A21FoE
My name is Dylan Lanham, and I need to raise $30,000 to bring the first season of Soho Sadie, a web series created by Frank Roselli--starring Cassandra Due, with Director of Photography Anthony Mangini, Produced by Celia Rettenmaier and Kylan Tyng, and Directed by me, Dylan--to life on the screen!
Soho Sadie, a New York lady, leaves behind her shady boyfriend and a whole lot of debt when she sets her sights westward to the City of Angels. Along her journey, she not so subtly “bumps” into an old friend. It's all fun at first, but a past like Sadie's has a way of catching up...
If Addie Loggins (Paper Moon) grew up to be more like Mona Lisa Vito (My Cousin Vinny), then you might end up with a girl like Sadie. Our show is a seedy, pulpy, road-trip dramedy, with a visual style influenced by films including True Romance, Jackie Brown, Bottle Rocket, Breathless (1983), and Badlands. As a web series, Season 1 of Soho Sadie will consist of 3 episodes, each 7-15 minutes in length.
Why do I need your help?
As recent film school graduates, we have enacted a policy: no more compromised pictures! We have taken the time to make sure we have everything we need to make a really exciting piece of cinema--a terrific story, talented actors, and a knowledgeable, professional crew that's ready to get to work. But there's still something missing before we can make a movie--and that's money.
We need gas for this car, and that's where YOU come in!
What will donations go towards?
Another great question. Making a film involves a lot of moving parts, and having the necessary funds gives us the means to make Soho Sadie look and feel exciting and cinematic. Your money will go to:
- Camera and lighting equipment rentals
- Costumes, props, and production design
- Location and permit fees
- Transportation costs
- Food and crafty for the cast and crew
- COVID safety expenses such as PPE, sanitation equipment...etc.
- Day Rates for all the talented people putting in their blood, sweat, and tears
- Post-Production costs such as editing, coloring, and hiring a composer
- Festival Fees
What Happens After You Make It?
Possibly the best question of all. The greatest sin a filmmaker can commit is to give everything they've got to a movie that just goes on a shelf or sits on a web-page. We think Sadie deserves better, so in addition to finding a home on Vimeo and YouTube, our show will be making the rounds to every qualifying web series festival around the country and abroad, such as SXSW, Sundance, Hollyweb Festival, NYC Web Fest, etc. After that, we plan on pitching it to executives around Los Angeles to turn it into a streaming series, or maybe even a motion picture!

Meet the Team
I've referred to them as hard-working professionals, but I should let their experiences and accolades speak for themselves. Below are the talented filmmakers taking on Soho Sadie:
Director's Statement
I have some Sadie in me. Most of us do. She's deeply flawed--toxic, even--and unfortunately functionally so; enough for friends to let her take root in their lives and make everything much, much more difficult. We all make mistakes, and it's hard to fix things once they've broken. Soho Sadie is about trying to start over and do things right, and discovering how difficult that can be. There have been times where I truly felt like I had wrecked my own life and my relationships beyond repair, to the extent that I would fantasize about dropping everything and starting over. Soho Sadie is a chance to explore that visceral desire so many of us have experienced--to see how it plays out. Sadie is a free spirit, and I want to watch her try to become a better person--so that I can believe I can too.
This is one of those projects that seems to have a spirit of its own. After moving to Los Angeles, Cass Due and I felt we absolutely needed to work together, and by some act of providence Frank Roselli happened to have the perfect vehicle waiting in the wings. It was an old project he'd been developing for years--I didn't believe him when he first told me, it seemed so tailored to exactly what I wanted to make. Since then, it's been a matter of writing, rewriting, strapping together the most talented professionals we could find, and getting all our affairs in order to launch this fundraiser.
And It All Starts with YOU!
None of this will be possible if you don't donate to this campaign, so we are counting on each and every one of you to help us make Soho Sadie a stunning, cinematic web series.
