My name is Carl S. Miedke; I went to the University of Texas where I majored in Chemistry. I am also a Marine Corp. Vietnam Veteran, Who left a great Corporate Research Group Job at Texas Instrument in Dallas. Some thought I was crazy, as I ventured out to run an 8000 sq. ft. commercial vegetable greenhouse in Durango Colorado in 1975. As I continued to develop my efficient greenhouse off grid, truly green, below grade subterranean (only the roof was above ground grade) and make it profitable. Solar Food Aquaponics LLC., Was formed for the purpose of growing and marketing high quality crops for wholesale and retail grocers, along with processed foods that are cooked and bottled in house such as salsas, pasta sauces, relishes, etc.
With my above background and the running of a successful business in Colorado, I am looking for others who are of like mind to help me in the construction of a pilot program in Colorado Springs. We will showcase a well organized food based plant growing system, based on well proven existing Technologies. We will feature
(1) Hydroponics – tomatoes, cuke, peppers.
(2) Aquaculture – Tilapia, catfish, lobster.
(3) Anaerobic Digestion –clipping, cuttings, algae, digested by fish and forms methane gas.
(4) Dwarf Fruit trees, self-pollinating, branch trained – apples, grapes, peaches.
(5) Self sustaining power sources - Photovoltaic cells, wind turbines, - to run the LED lighting, Heat, pumps,
motors, fans and systems.
This idea is the starter program that can be copied and run anywhere in the world and in space. With a planned system of pure organic food free from pesticides, and GMO’s that can grow all year round. As food is produced it can be sold to maintain the project. As word spreads, it will bring in community interest. From there we can and will produce a program to teach future generations the system in detail to help spark young minds that anything is possible if you apply your passions. We will also implement a work program with the city, state and other non-profit entities.
