Portable Solar Hubs: Restoring Power, Comms & Hope to WNC
Donation protected
Together, we can bring light to those in darkness and hope to those in need.
Dear friends and supporters,
In an effort to provide sustainable relief and reduce strain on centralized resources, we are raising funds to assemble and deploy "Solar Power Hubs" to affected families.
As you know, Hurricane Helene has devastated our rural communities in Western North Carolina, leaving hundreds of families without power and communication for what could be months.
One of our project leads, Marley Howard, lives in one of the many devastated rural hollers in WNC. The road to his house is out, and the bridge to approximately 50 households was wiped out completely.
Thanks to community support, Marley and his wife now have our first proof-of-concept Solar Home Kit, dramatically improving their ability to communicate, care for their essential needs, and support their neighborhood during this crisis. They feel like even if it's months before they get power back, they will be ok.
Marley and the rest of our team have talked with his neighbors and surrounding rural communities. They confirmed that creating an off-grid solution to power homes will be a huge part of this recovery effort and will go a long way toward helping so many families.
Many people in remote areas still rely on helicopter airdrops and supplies delivered by side-by-sides, ATV, Motorcycle and mule.
Your donation will help us reach these isolated communities and provide them with the power and connectivity they desperately need.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will significantly impact a family's life during this difficult time. Let's come together to support our neighbors in Western North Carolina and help them weather this storm.
These kits will provide ongoing essential power and internet/Wifi, allowing families to refrigerate food and medication and coordinate work & recovery efforts. Communication continues to be a challenge that we hope to help remedy with these kits.
