Solar Kits for Puerto Rico
Donation protected
"My trip to Puerto Rico a month ago, and first Solar Campaign, was inspired after my mom decided to stay in Puerto Rico, following the Hurricane María aftermath. Thanks to Park Ave Christian Church and old and new friends, I carried 150 pounds of solar products: lanterns, flashlights, phone charges, and radios. We provided kits to Casa Julia de Burgos (see picture), a women’s shelter for women; Salud y Acupuntura para el Pueblo (see picture) an organization setting up acupuncture clinics in public spaces, and Amanecer an organization bringing together those interested in self-sustainability. In the midst of a very difficult situation, people are reinventing communities to help each other. Those of us outside Puerto Rico are essential in this current low rebuilding process. One-on-one contacts to people and small organizations, especially with those who have received little or no assistance, proves mostly effective. Therefore, the second campaign “Solar Kits for Puerto Rico 2” is on its way! In addition to providing solar items as those described above, this time, I would like also to collect funds to purchase 10 to 15 solar-generators, 2000 or 3000w, for organizations assisting others, or for people in dire need. As with my first campaign, I commit to post pics and keep you informed. ¡Gracias!"
