Sólás - an additional needs charity in Belfast.
Sólás was earmarked to receive £800,000.00 for a purpose-built SEN building on its main site. Sadly, Sinn Féin and the DUP reallocated these funds towards alternative projects.
Initially reducing the allocation for Sólás to £24,744, a group of parents whose children, along with their families, benefit heavily from Sólás attended and spoke at the Full Council meeting in Belfast and after a closed-door debate - they agreed to give this incredible charity £308,000
Our son, Theo, attends Sólás twice a week; it is one of only a few places where he is fully accepted for who he is. It is a joy to drop him off and pick him up with never a feeling of dread.
Those who know Theo, know he is a very active boy who LOVES hiking. In July, Theo will be hiking the Blick auf Brienzersee mountain in Switzerland. We should also mention that he will only be 6 years old when he does this!
Teddy’s first mountain hike was Slemish in Ireland just before his 5th Birthday. He is an impressive walker.
We would be so grateful if you could spare any loose change (or something bigger!) to help Sólás continue to provide the best care for Teddy and their many other children.
Thank you.
