Solidarity Space for George Floyd-Davis CA
Donation protected
Since Sunday May 31st we have been holding space in Davis Central Park for those in our community to process, grieve, show support and stand in solidarity in these hard times. It started with 3 portraits of Black men who were murdered by police brutality (George Floyd, Ahmad Arbery, Tony McDade) during the Covid-19 Pandemic and has turned into an installation of solidarity and mourning.
Candles will be lit every evening during the entire month of June from 7:30pm-9:00pm in mourning and as a call to actively participate in anti-racism work.
We are asking for donations to help with the supplies needed to maintain the space and provide support for those who facilitate within the space.
Supplies includes:
Large LED candles
Small candles for the public to light
lighters
matches
tape
chalk
Fresh flowers
hand sanitizer
Art supplies
Space facilitators
Thank you for the huge response and support. We will be adding a few special events to the space with more information to come soon
