Solidarity for Land Defenders
A crew of organizers in so-called Salt Lake City (from the nascent ROAR Collective) are hoping to answer the call to action and ask of solidarity from land defenders in the Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans.
These indigenous and migrant organizers now turn to you with an ask of solidarity in the form of financial donations, to cover their travel costs to the event [(airplane ticket, food and lodging).
From the organizers on the ground:
"This action will take place during the Department of the Interior's auction of 43 million acres of our beloved Gulf of Mexico. In taking this action, we are united with other communities around the world to defend our beloved homes from drilling, mining, fracking, refining and other abuses of the extractive and fossil fuel industries. We also acknowledge the particular burden borne by the Gulf of Mexico region."
Showing up and providing solidarity for fellow land defenders in a region that has been deeply impacted and targetted by environmental destruction and racial oppression is crucial. Our commitment is to building connections and lasting relationships, to providing tangible solidarity and to learn from other fronts of struggle.
Please donate what you can to allow us to carry out this work and answer the call that our comrades (Louisana Bucket Brigade) have put out.
