Invoke the clouds with me

Hello friends!

My name is Roy, a flutist and soul-activist based in Berlin, and I’m reaching out for your support to complete the creation of my solo-flute album “To invoke the Clouds”.

As a human and musician living in 2024, I look around and ask myself constantly - what can I do to help stop the violence I see around us?

The music I recorded for this album carries my deep wish for spreading peace and tenderness in the world.

In the creation process I started collecting pieces written by different composers in different times and geographies, and gradually reshaped them into a single musical landscape.

Throughout this process there was one composer who was always present in my heart: J.S. Bach. His pieces for violin or cello that I arranged for flute were like the water flowing in the river connecting all the small stones.

The title "To invoke the Clouds" comes from a piece by John Thow, also featured on the album, which was inspired by the Hopi people’s prayer for rain. I was deeply touched by the intention of this ritual - to bring rain and connect with the earth and its elements - and by the way Thow’s western composition engages in an honest, heart opening dialogue with it. Rain can be seen as a metaphor for cleansing tears—a reminder of how deeply we need to process our emotions in order to approach life with gratitude and openness. My hope is that the music can help to open our hearts and reconnect with our most tender, vulnerable parts.

A few of the expenses are paying the recording venue, the recording engineer, editing the musical materials and then producing the cds and records (cds, booklets, graphic design) as well as making sure the music gets promoted on and off line.

Some of these used to be covered by record labels, but reality has changed and now it is mostly up to the artist to find ways to finance them.
