Solstice's pathology and ARVC research and testing
Donation protected
Hello! I am Melissa, I am making this fundraiser for Megan Moberly and Jaye Foucher of Yukikaze Siberians and Sibersong Sleddogs, respectively. Last year during fall training, as they were getting their sleddogs ready for the race season, they had two dogs pass suddenly - Elsa and Felicity. Elsa was the first and did not get a necropsy because they rightly assumed it was a freak event for an older dog, but when Felicity passed days later in the same manner - collapsing during a training run - Jaye and Megan decided to get a necropsy to determine the cause of death. The necropsy determined Felicity had ARVC, a heart condition, and Jaye and Megan spent thousands getting echocardiograms for many of their dogs to rule out ARVC in their breeding lines.
Unfortunately, tragedy has struck again - Solstice passed in the same way, collapsing out of the blue one mile into a training run. Solstice was a two year old, at the peak of physical fitness, and his mother Yona had been cleared of ARVC with an echocardiogram. Megan and Jaye are devastated and want to find answers as to why a third dog, related in family to the other two, has suddenly passed and to hopefully be able to prevent it from happening again. To do this, they want to bring Solstice to a pathology specialist in Boston who can give a more in-depth analysis of what caused Solstice's death. This specialist is way more expensive than a regular necropsy, so we are reaching out to the community to help Megan and Jaye find answers and find a path forward.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for your kindness. If you can't donate, sharing the GoFundMe campaign can be just as helpful. Solstice was loved deeply and Megan and Jaye love their other dogs beyond belief, and want to do anything they can to protect them.
