Somalia Appeal
According to the latest UN figures, at least 41% of Somalia’s population of nearly 16 million people will face acute food insecurity between now and December.
Martin Griffiths (UN humanitarian chief) said A famine in 2011 killed nearly 260,000 people in Somalia, and 100,000 of those people died before famine was officially declared. The same is happening again – and there are fears that it will be worse this time.
currently Millions of people are facing food insecurity, as scientists and aid groups warned that Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia could be experiencing their worst drought in 40 years this October-December with drier-than-average conditions predicted.
In July 2022, WAFA Relief started this campaign to help the afflicted families in Somalia. In Eid Ul Adha we did 591 Qurbani to provide meat for 2364 families. Also we distributed 250 food parcels and provided 800 hot meals. currently WAFA Relief is working to build water wells that will provide clean water to 300 Families.
