Soma Banerjee: Tribute page for Leukemia research

Our family is requesting that in lieu of sending flowers or food, please consider making an equivalent donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in honor of our mother, Soma Banerjee, who passed away from a rare and orphan blood cancer.

Recently, my sister and I lost the best mother anyone could ever ask for. In December 2021, my mother, Soma Banerjee, was diagnosed with one of the rarest leukemia's known in medicine (T cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia or TPLL). It was painful to see her rapid decline due to the cancer aggressiveness/lack of effective treatments and eventually passed away a month later in January 2022 at the age of 54.

So why donate to this fundraiser? This was created to honor my mother and to advance research efforts to benefit the LLS, the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer in the world. Specifically, donations will be utilized to fund research grants to find effective treatments that are specific to TPLL. According to the LLS, TPLL is an extremely rare/aggressive blood cancer and current treatments do not typically result in long-term remissions or cures (only compassionate use of immunotherapy is being utilized). Thus, any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me, my sister, and the rest of my family.

To my mother, as a son, it was a privilege to spend day and night with you at the hospital and serve you in all your needs during your darkest hours. Thank you for teaching me how to be strong and compassionate throughout these years and I now find peace knowing you're no longer suffering. I hope to see you again. Love you mom ❤️

To my mother, as a daughter, your kindness, resilience and patience always radiated through every action of yours. I realize though that you live in me and your memories will always be cherished through the rest of my life. I promise every single thing that I accomplish will be in your name. May we meet again ❤️
