"Somebody New", Eliza Thorn’s First Record.

When I was a little girl, I would make my folks bring me to the diner so I could throw some nickels in the jukebox and listen to Aretha Franklin while eating my grilled cheese. As the only musician in my family, I was always encouraged to play music, but never considered music as a lifelong career. It wasn’t until the past few years that I realized my love for music was more than just a mere affair; it is my life’s greatest passion.

About the album:

I relocated at the start of this to Nashville, Tennessee from Asheville earlier this year and immediately got to work, singing from Broadway to East Nashville. I love the community I've made here and can't believe that I've been so lucky to immerse myself in the traditional country and roots music scene. My producer and friend Mose Wilson, graciously offered to help me create this album from the ground up, and together we are working to build a world around the songs i have written. In October 2023, we are taking some of our most talented friends into the Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville to cut a record that I am truly proud to call mine.

All pre-production is finished, and we are in the home stretch of getting this album off the ground and running.

The music business is not immune to The classic Catch 22- you need a job to get experience, and experience to get a job. I am an accomplished singer and songwriter, but when I am sending gig requests, I have little to point to with regards to published work. As a financially independent artist, I cannot make an album without support from friends, fans, and family at this time. That's where you come in:

Somebody New is a homage to a decade of rambling tales of the road, life, and heartbreak, and I am so eager to share it with you all.

For a rundown of where your money will go:

$4,000 tracking (paying quality artists for their worth, studio time, and any additional finishing touches)
$1,000 mixing
$500 mastering
$1,000 for CDs and Vinyls
$3,500 PR

=$10,000 total.

This cost breakdown doesn’t include:
-Living and food expenses at the time of production (~$2,000)
-Touring album costs (~$3,000)
-Radio (~$1,500)
-Merch costs (~$1,000)

Any additional proceeds would go towards the extra expenses above, which are necessary to the vitality of the album in the long term.

This album has been over a decade in the making, and it’s finally time for it to be born. Whether you’ve watched me grow as an artist or you’re new in my world, all funds are seen and mean the absolute world to me.

With your support, I will be able to make my dream album come to life. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all contributions! <3
