Somerset Heritage Produce Farm Flood Fund
Donation protected
Hi all, my name is Catherine, I work at Somerset Heritage Produce and am also a friend of owner Chloe and her partner Cam. I understand the recent floods have wreaked havoc for many across parts of Victoria and I feel for everyone and wish them well in the recovery process.
Somerset Farm is located on the banks of the Goulburn River in Seymour and whilst this makes for a picturesque location to live and work, with the bursting of the river banks yesterday it has made for sheer devastation on so many levels.
Not just the farm but also the home of Chloe and Cam, had been completely submerged with no where for the water to recede; so no end in sight. It is impossible to understand how it must feel to lose not just your business but also your home across a matter of hours.
SES rescue means everyone is safe and sound and the animals are fine, but the aftermath and recovery of the vegetables, farm, equipment and house will be a very long process.
For anyone that knows Chloe you will know that she grows vegetables to contribute to the food system and environment in a positive way. Chloe also wants to help people realise how great vegetables grown with love can taste and being at farmer’s markets as well as delivering to many Melbourne restaurants helps her achieve this.
Chloe has always been a generous and helping human who often gives food to those in need and regularly donates excess to Fareshare, so I think this is a good opportunity for her to receive some support in return for all her giving.
If you can spare any small amount to help support this recovery - please donate. Thanks
