Somos contratiempo

Contratiempo is a non-profit literary and arts organization highlighting the Spanish-speaking diaspora's cultural contributions in the United States.

Our goal is to raise 5,000 by September 30. Your support will help us continue publishing, nourishing a community platform for dialogue, critique, dreaming, and care.

Contratiempo highlights vital immigrant stories and serves a second-generation audience with a bilingual, bicultural identity. Our bilingual programs showcase immigrant communities' art, literature, and journalism and facilitate exchanges between poets and writers in the USA, Latin America, and Spain. Our all-immigrant team also leads the organization, creating, curating, and executing all programs presented on the page, our digital publication, the airwaves, and the stage.

Contratiempo exists because of the efforts of volunteers, creative Latin Americans from all walks of life with migrant roots and international branches.

Contratiempo is passionate about celebrating and surfacing thinkers, poets, artists, musicians, ancestors, futurists, and everything in between. We want to enhance the dedication and conviction of each individual who represents a contratiempo: members, volunteers, collaborators, guides, as well as our beloved audience, contributors, readers, listeners and above all, you who are part of our community.
