Songs of the Irish Harpers

Edit: We are delighted to announce that our recording took place 23–25 April, 2024 in Roundwood House in county Laois. We are now working with the producer on the editing and mixing. In February 2024, Siobhán Armstrong (early Irish, wire-strung harp) will accompany me, Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde, on a 60-min. recording of songs composed and performed by Irish harpers in the eighteenth century.

Many of these will be the first ever recordings of beautiful but forgotten songs at the heart of Irish music, which we are painstakingly reconstructing from field transcriptions of music and lyrics made in the late 1700s, using a copy of an Irish harp built in 1702.
