Sonja Johnson

As family members of Sonja Johnson, we'd like to update everyone on Sonja's health issue and give those who'd like to help her, the opportunity to do so.

Sonja is currently in the midst of her third battle with cancer and the huge medical bills she's incurred are adding so much stress to her life. We're hoping the generosity of her friends, family, co-workers, and other supporters, can help us help her relieve some of that stress.

After suffering for several years with severe pain that no doctor could diagnose, Sonja was first diagnosed with uterine cancer at the age of 33. One evening, after excruciating pain, she went to the emergency room and the visit ended with an emergency hysterectomy. She underwent 4 treatments of chemotherapy while suffering an allergic reaction to one of the drugs. Along with being horrendously sick and her therapy schedule, she lost her job. However, she powered through and we all hoped she'd have a healthy future from then on.

As Sonja found a new job at Advanced Blending Solutions in Wallace, her life seemed back on track. Unfortunately during a check-up, they discovered the cancer had moved to her stomach area. Surgery can't be done for this particular cancer, as it involves many small tumors. She underwent a second round of chemo involving 6 more treatments. Again, she suffered greatly with another allergic reaction to the chemo ingredients and having low blood platelets. Her employer and co-workers were wonderful. Numerous employees even donated some of their vacation time to her so she could be less stressed about needing days off for her treatment and recovery. The cancer still remains and she has been placed on a very expensive drug that will hopefully keep the cancer at bay, even though it can't be cured. It's expected at this time that she'll end up being on this expensive drug for the rest of her life. Sonja is currently in her third round of chemo, but hanging in there with an amazing attitude.

Sonja, a lover of books, cats, kittens, kayaking, and crocheting is one of the kindest, most caring, and generous people ever to walk this earth. She has spent the last several years of her life being sick, miserable, and stressed. We can't do anything to help her health, but we'd like to try and relieve some of the stress and hope you'll help us help her. Thank you for any donation you can make to this very good cause.
