Sonny & Eddie - Tragically taken too soon.

On the 29th of December 2023 whilst on Christmas holidays in the far North of New Zealand, an absolutely unspeakable tragedy occurred, and we lost two irreplaceable lights in our lives, my nephews, Sonny (six) and Eddie (four).

Sonny and Eddie were doing what they loved best, hanging with their cuzzys, going on adventures, exploring and running wild on Grandmas Farm (Noni). Tragically at approximately 5.15pm on this day the UTV they were travelling in, struck a boulder, sending the vehicle careering into an 11 meter deep swollen waterhole at Waikianga Stream, where no safety barriers were in place. Their precious bodies were recovered a day later.

No words can capture the magnitude of loss we feel, the unique spark that made Sonny and Eddie so extraordinarily special to us all.

Sonny, our radiant sunshine, our inquisitive bug-man, our fruit-bat, our sunny-bunny, our mischievous cheeky-monkey. Sonny was the coolest and littlest brother to Oliver and Jesse. The treasured son of Marisa and Mark, and cherished stepson to Andy and Destiny.

Eddie, the youngest joy of Grace and Hayden, the loving little brother of Henry. Eddie, with his irresistible cheekiness, boundless cheer, and adventurous spirit, Eddie lit up every space he entered with an inextinguishable brightness.

Losing you both, has shattered hearts beyond repair. Our hearts are forever broken for you and our family and are unmendable.

This fundraiser aims to support both families in New Zealand and Australia as they navigate this harrowing time. The funds will help cover the repatriation of our angels, funeral expenses, and ongoing bills, allowing the families to grieve without the added stress of financial burdens.
