Sonny's Cancer Care Fund! Help Save Sonny!

Devastated is an understatement. Sonny has been diagnosed with GI lymphoma and without continued treatment/chemo, I’m not sure how much longer we’ll have with him. I have gone through every resource I can, and we are out of options. We would be incredibly grateful for any contributions towards Sonny’s lifesaving treatment. We would also appreciate if you could share this post and his story.
Backstory: For those who don't know me, I've worked in animal rescue most of my adult life until about 6 months ago. I have 5 rescue dogs that are my world. Most of them have a variety of health concerns, medications, and special diets, but I have always done everything to provide the best for them.
Sonny is my biggest, goofiest boy. He has had quite a year, with two torn ACL/CCLs resulting in two orthopedic surgeries, and his knee now has an infection under the metal plate. And most recently…… Cancer.
When the vet found the infection in Sonny’s knee, they also found a large mass in his intestine, coupled with a very enlarged lymph node. He had to have emergency surgery earlier this month (1/9) to have the mass (including part of his intestine) and lymph node removed. With all the diagnostics needed to find the mass and the emergency surgery, we were already struggling financially. He was starting to feel better, and we were hoping for the best.
Unfortunately, the histopathology report came back, and our world was crushed. On top of everything my sweet boy has been through this year, he has GI lymphoma. Sonny goes back to the vet tomorrow for radiographs of his knee, which still isn't healed. Initially, they were thinking he'd need an additional surgery to remove the metal hardware, but with his cancer diagnosis, that will likely be put on hold.
The next step for GI Lymphoma is chemotherapy and we are to get Sonny an appointment with the oncologist as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, with everything that's already happened this month (and year) with Sonny, I'm falling short financially to move forward with chemotherapy. While chemo won't be a cure, some dogs go into remission for years. Sonny already spent the first two years of his life in hard situations, and now that he is happy, he's not ready for his life to be cut short. We hope to work with the oncologist to decide the best treatment plan for his quality of life.
Sonny just turned 7 years old, and he hasn't lived enough life yet. Sonny spent the first part of his life living outside on a chain. Thankfully he was surrendered to the shelter, and he came to live with us as a foster, but it turns out we were his forever family all along. ❤️
Thank you for taking the time to read about my sweet boy. We are so appreciative of any support.
For those interested, I'll continue to update this page after Sonny’s appointment tomorrow and throughout the entire process.
