Thankfully, the fires are contained. But this is just the beginning of what will be a long and arduous recovery. Now that the immediate threat has subsided, we are shifting our focus to more long-term fundraising efforts. Countless buildings have been destroyed, including homes, schools, churches, and workplaces - not to mention acres of farmland and trail systems. At least forty-two lives were claimed, and at the height of the evacuations, a hundred thousand people were forced to leave their homes. It will take years to rebuild the area’s infrastructure and economy, and the emotional toll of this devastation will likely surpass any projected timeline. In continuing this fundraiser, we hope to provide additional relief to the above organizations, as well as to individuals and families who need it most.
I moved to Sonoma in 4th grade, and it has been my home for twelve years. My mother's house was destroyed in the fire, one loss among thousands. I do not know what this next chapter will hold, but I do know that our community is strong and will work tirelessly to heal and rebuild. In the meantime, please join me in ensuring Sonoma has a shot at recovery, to once again become a place of postcard beauty and ecological prosperity.
Please consider donating and/or sending the link to this page to your friends, family, and co-workers. Any contribution helps! Thank you for any and all support.
