Help Soph and Steph rebuild after devastating apt. fire

Hello NYC artistic community & beyond! Early Friday morning, our dear friends, Sophie Brubaker and Stephanie Kate Nielsen, were faced with a tragedy…their building caught on fire. At approximately 3:45 am, the two woke up to screaming in the hallway and clouds of smoke coming through their baseboard heaters. They were able to grab the absolute bare minimum before sprinting out of the building.

This has left them homeless, clothless, stuff-less, and completely upended. They came to find out that the fire was started in the ceiling of one of the first-floor restaurants in their building. Their windows are completely gone and the walls totally damaged, as well as all of the clothing, furniture, appliances, and belongings of theirs in that apartment…they’ve been left with nothing. No one is allowed in the building until it’s been deemed “safe to re-enter” which, at the earliest, will be late next week, and even then it will still be uninhabitable.

The cost of replacing all of their things is going to be incredibly high. Luckily, they have a family friend they can stay with for a few days, but the future for them is a humongous question mark. They’re trying to figure out how to get clothing and other essential items to get back on their feet and start rebuilding their home in New York City.
