Soph & Trace walk 140 miles for Lisa

Donation protected

We're taking on the challenge of walking the whole of the Anglesey Costal Path - 140 miles in August over 8 days. This equates to an average of 17.5 miles a day.

The reason we're doing this? To raise money for a truly inspirational and determined friend Lisa. We are hoping to raise at least £3000 to put towards Lisa’s ‘best life’ list. Instead of us telling you about Lisa and why we’re doing this, here is her story in her own words…

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Lisa, I’m 36 and have been in the police for 15.5 years, serving the last 8 years as a detective and prior to that working on response.

I have 2 boys. Ace and Jax who are 2 and 6 and they are utterly adorable and challenging in equal measure. Jax is a really sensitive boy who feels everything with his whole heart. He’s 100% mummy’s boy and when he’s not throwing a Hulk style rage you will find him just staring at me adoringly or telling me how beautiful I am. He is the ultimate ego booster and I fully encourage it!!! Ace is a free spirit. He is me in a 2 year old body. Always trying to be entertaining, making people laugh and just a whirlwind of energy. He's so confident but also the most polite child I've ever encountered. I'm not quite sure how that happened.

I'm married to a lovely man, Jordan, who is a one-man-band plumber and he completes the awesome foursome.

In 2020 when Ace was 6 months old I started to have some pain in my elbow. Fast forward to August that year and I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. An aggressive cancer which had spread t my lymph nodes. I had 6 operations and 15 sessions of radiotherapy and was declared 'no evidence of disease' at the beginning of May 2021.

This year, 3 weeks off my 1 year anniversary of being cancer free, following 3 seizures at home, I as admitted to hospital and told that the cancer had spread to my brain, known as secondary breast cancer and there was no cure, but I would be on 'palliative' treatment for as long as it will work. This was an absolute bombshell. I had cyberknife radiation to my brain in April and we will find out how the tumour has responded at the end of July with a brain MRI. I spent the first 6 weeks following my secondary diagnosis pretty much off my feet. It's amazing how quickly your health can take a nosedive. But I have continued to do what I can and sought out alternative therapies to try and prolong my life by whatever means possible, even if this means thinking outside the NHS box. My health is picking up and I can do regular Mum things with the boys again more recently which is ultimately my aim. To be here to mother my children for as long as I can.

We really want to help Lisa live her best possible life.

Lisa will now be navigating through life with stage 4 cancer, which holds so many uncertainties. What we do know for certain is Lisa is an incredible mum, wife, daughter, sister, friend and a whole lot more to so many people. We are in awe of how she’s handled everything that life has thrown at her, her optimism and approach to life and living her best life is just extraordinary.

And that’s where we come in…with two young boys and an amazing husband, we want to do what we can to enable Lisa to live her best possible life. The money we raise will help Lisa to do that - whether it’s through alternative treatment, private care, child care, house care, to give Lisa’s husband the time he needs being self-employed, but mainly to enable life experiences to create wonderful memories for her lovely family, whilst going through treatment.

No-one deserves this cruel disease. This awful blow has turned Lisa and her families lives upside down. Any amount that you can donate will be immensely appreciated and will just help create those wonderful memories for Lisa and her boys.

We'll be covering all the costs of the walk ourselves and so every single penny raised will go direct to Lisa and her family. You can follow her story on FB and instagram @Findingthemothership.

Thanks in advance for any help or support!
