Help Sophia get the surgery she needs.

Hi my name is Rachel, I am raising funds for my daughter Sophia to recieve a life changing surgery.

In February of 2023 my 14 year old daughter could not keep down food or liquids, we went to the emergency room 3 times before they were able to diagnose her with a rare cause of bowel obstruction called superior mesenteric artery syndrome. This is a blockage of the 3rd portion of her duodenum and doesn't allow food to enter the intestines, she could not be nourished by mouth. She was unable to keep her weight at a healthy place or gain weight and she fell off the growth charts dropping below 3% bmi. At her lowest she was a mere 70lbs.

She needed a nasojujunal feeding tube to survive.

Sophia has been on her feeding tube for 9 months without much improvement.

We have found thru extensive testing that Sophia has several rare conditions called ehlers danlos syndrome(EDS), superior mesenteric artery syndrome(SMAS) and median accurate ligament syndrome(MALS). These make everyday life miserable.

Sophia is unable to attend school, she has chronic debilitating pain, nausea and fatigue.

There is only one surgeon in the United States that preforms the surgery Sophia needs. Dr. Shouhed is a Robotic Surgeon who has done 15 of these surgeries this year and with excellent results.

This surgery will change her anatomy and bypass the obstruction, this will make it so that if successful, her SMAS and MALS will never return.

I started this go fund me to help raise funds for travel and lodging and food for the 2-3 weeks we will be in california and the physicians surgical fee's.

I know that by the grace of God and the donations that we are blessed with that we will be able to help Sophia live, thrive, and be her best self.
