Sophie's Fight Against Leukodystrophy
Donation protected
Hi Friends and Family,
On December 23rd, we received some heartbreaking news that our precious two year old daughter Sophie is suffering from a rare white brain matter disease that is causing her to lose her motor skills. This disease is Leukodystrophy. We are now working hard to further pinpoint which form of this disease is present and which specaialized therapy will be most effective. There are only a few methods of gene replacement therapy and stem cell treatment out there to battle her regression and some only offered on the other side of the world.
Gene therapy helps introduce a corrected version of the gene to the cell in charge of creating key proteins. The corrected cells then produce the protein that was missing or defective prior to treatment, aiming to halt disease progression. Stem Cell treatment also fights the progression of the disease and helps repair damage already done. We are aiming to raise $500k to fund these costly procedures over the course of a year.
Reaching out for help from family and friends is one of the hardest things to have to do. In order to save our sweet Sophie, we are going to do whatever it takes. If anyone can find it in their hearts to donate to our sweet daughters cause please do. If not monetary, please keep our sweet little angel in your prayers.
Thank you!
