Sophie's fight against Osteosarcoma
Donation protected
My name is Nicole and I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my husband and his amazing lil fighter sophie.
In mid may Sophie began having pain in her knee. After a couple weeks the pain steadily grew worse. Sophie was active, smiling and behaving as any other 9 year old girl would, But the pain in her knee continued. She was taken to the doctor which eventually resulted in an abnormal x-ray, then an MRI that came back indicative of cancer on her femur. The next couple of weeks were filled with more appointments spanning across Illinois and Indiana. A biopsy was taken and the devastating news of osteosarcoma was given.
Osteosarcoma is a rare cancer that affects around 400 children In the United States a year. This couldn't be true? Not our Sophie. Not us. You hear about childhood cancer, but it doesn't become real until it happens to your loved one.
Sophie has already started her journey at a world renown hospital in chicago. On Friday June 9th 2023 she received surgery to insert her port, and has now received 2 rounds of chemo. Both of her parents have already spent several sleepless nights in the hospital fighting alongside their beautiful baby girl. Supporting her every step of the way. Beyond the medical cost, Steve will be missing weeks of work affecting every aspect of our lives.
I started this go fund me to support my husband and my beautiful bonus daughter during this battle. The proceeds will go to any expenses accrued doing this fight. Such as medical expenses, parking, food, gas, lodging and anything else necessary. Honestly we are doing our best but it has already become extremely hard. The burden of this horrible disease can be astronomical and any help would take some of the weight off Steve's shoulders so he can continue to fight this battle with his daughter.
I humbly ask you today to share this campaign and make a donation if possible. No child or family should ever fight alone. Sophie's fight is our fight. #SophieStrong
Thank you in advance for the care and compassion
