Sophs Story - Addiction Awareness Fundraiser

Donation protected

In memory of our close friend Sophie, on the 16th of November, Mia , Marni and I will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge hiking Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres) to raise awareness of ketamine addiction and Sophs story.

Sophie was a kind, caring, fun and precious young girl. She was a Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister and Auntie dearly loved by all her family. She was a close friend of many and brought much happiness to our lives. Sophie began taking Ketamine at 18 recreationally as many young people do. Sophie over a short period of time became addicted to this drug, which led to months of pain and becoming isolated and lonely. Sophie tragically lost her life at just 20 years old on the 26th of September this year.

We want to raise awareness of the dangers of this drug. Also, we want people to know what help is out there and break the stigma around addiction.

The money we raise will go to ‘Taking action on addiction’ which is a campaign to improve understanding of addiction and end the stigma that surrounds it. They are calling for addiction to be treated as a serious mental health condition and for increased access to support so that recovery can be possible for everyone.
