Sophy's Dreams

Our dear friend and colleague, Sophy Mitchell has sadly been diagnosed with terminal cancer, at the age of 30.
We would like to raise funds for Sophy so she can enjoy trips away, meals out, pampers – whatever our Queen Soph wants!
Sophy’s story in her own words:
I can’t believe I am writing this! But I just want to address what’s going on as worse days will come where I cancel visits or can’t look at my phone and unfortunately this is the best way to say!
So the last few weeks have been a whirlwind to say the least…one minute I’m drinking Sangria in Benidorm and the next minute I’m diagnosed with cancer.
Been in the hospital, tests, scans, biopsies, sickness, sore tummy’s, sore back, blood transfusions, horrendous leg pain…I can’t believe the support I’ve had from my husband to family to friends to colleagues (current and ex colleagues) I’d do anything to feel better - missing walking my dog Coco so much however got to see my baby boy at the hospital.
The support I’ve had from everyone at my fantastic work Dundee and Angus College has been unbelievable and overwhelming. I love my work as everyone knows! I’ve had messages from staff all over the college and I’ve loved them - always brings a smile to my face! I LOVE my job and the students and my goal is to make one final graduation this year to see them all
I also want to thank my husbands work Kerrs Dairy for their amazing understanding and support towards me and Kev! It makes everything easier!!
I’ve had the best 30 years on this planet but the cancer has spread to my bones now so time to enjoy the time I’ve left! I wanna be smiling until the end. Laughing and being Sophy
But the fight is on for now cancer (I ain’t going down too easy!!!!)
I’ve had gifts, cards, flowers etc - honestly so so so lovely! Wish I’d took photos of everything but I’ve been really tired some days and some days very sick so for now it’s each day at a time, making some more memories and still smiling.
Smiley sophs till the end!!
I’ve had some amazing visits and hearts to hearts with people and more to come!
Visiting is limited as I also need my rest.
Messages are amazing and I always reply when I feel up to it. But please understand I am totally inundated with messages and visit requests and phone calls etc! And sometimes I am just SO tired!
Life is short so make the most of it.. over the years I’ve moaned over such silly things.. but really a burst tyre or broken washing machine is nothing.
I’ve not wore clothes because I’ve been too “fat”. Trust me I’d never care again.
Live life care free, do what you enjoy, don’t argue with loved ones over stupid things... in the end NONE OF IT MATTERS!!!!!!
So book the holiday, buy the designer bag on the credit card, let the kids have a sweetie bar in the evenings! ❤️
