As many of you know, Lindsay and Jon closed on what they hoped would be their forever home on November 6, 2020. What started as a simple kitchen refresh project has turned into a complete and literal disaster.
On Monday, November 8th Jon & Lindsay started with removing a kitchen cabinet and ended up opening up Pandora’s box. Once the cabinet was off, they found a water leak and several thousands of dollars in damage. As they continued to investigate, they found that the damage was so severe they had to completely gut the kitchen and both bathrooms located above it.
But that isn’t even the worst of it. Because of the water, they found black mold throughout the kitchen, bathrooms and basement. The insurance company had a mold treatment company come out. During the mold removal process, the mold removal company uncovered old tiles and scraped them up before setting up fans to dry the affected areas. They discovered that they are asbestos based tiles!
Now the entire house is contaminated. They believe the asbestos particles/fibers have blown all over the house including through the air ventilation system, and they have to destroy anything porous that was in the home. Bedding, Clothing, Furniture… it all has to go. The only things they’re able to keep are what they had with them at the hotel.
At this point, they don’t know who is going to pay for what, or how much will be covered. The insurance company is treating them like they think they’re trying to commit fraud since they had to place a claim on day 2 of ownership and it just keeps escalating.
Lindsay and Jon just purchased their forever home, which is down to the studs and now they have to throw away everything in it that is plush/fabric because of the asbestos! To top it off, they are expecting them to be in temporary housing until Dec 23rd...2 Days before Christmas!

I am asking for assistance in setting up a fund that they can use immediately for items that they need while in this transition phase, as well as funds they can use to re-furnish the home once they’re allowed to finally live there. All donations will be used to help the Sorg family rebuild at least a small piece of what they have already lost during this disastrous time.
