SORRA Colo Bushfire Rebuilding Appeal
Donation protected
SYDNEY OFF ROAD RACING ASSOCIATION has been established near Colo Heights since 1978 and recently devastated by the Gospers Mountain Fire.
The club is a non-profit organisation that is run by volunteers and enthusiasts of Off Road Motorsports. The dedicated members do their very best to promote the sport and constantly improve the facilities.
The pride of SORRA has been the young driver training program. The program is run many times through the year for children and teenagers to learn about the mechanical aspect of vehicles, safety around vehicles and car control. After driver training is completed they can participate in Khanacross events, further improving their driving skills. These timed short track events allow the youngsters to develop much needed car control which can be applied to their driving abilities later in life. The driver training days are a fantastic opportunity for children and teenagers to engage with one another and family.
The recent Gospers Mountain fire has completely devastated the entire club facilities with the complete loss of all infrastructure built over the last 45 years. Included are all training vehicles and the earth moving equipment used to maintain the track. All buildings including, timing tower, club house, kitchen, bathrooms, water tanks, tools, generator all suffered terminal damage. They will all need to be fully cleared and rebuilt with replacement items purchased. Unfortunately much of the infrastructure could not be insured and club funds are very limited.
SORRA members have already begun the clean up to make the area safe again. The club is requesting any contribution large or small to assist in rebuilding the facilities to allow events to return to Colo. SORRA are committed to reinstating the facilities in 2020 so they can again be utilized and enjoyed by the community.
Please help get behind SORRA and their excellent cause, Thank You!
