My name is Eli Lorenz Mendes, and I'm a resident of Marietta, GA, USA. My home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is currently experiencing the worst catastrophe in Brazilian history. My family, neighbors, and friends have lost everything: their homes, furniture, food, clothes, and personal belongings. They are living in utter devastation, struggling to survive. The suffering of those who are far away inspires a path towards solidarity.
