SOS - Save Our Shrimp!!!
Donation protected
On Saturday June 3rd, our shrimpy boy fell ill - by the time the urgent care opened on Monday he was in dire straights, requiring blood transfusions and round the clock ICU care to fight for his life.
Turns out shrimp has developed a rare autoimmune condition called IMHA - a disease where his immune system mistakes his blood platelets for foreign invaders and begins to attack itself - leading to severe anemia and a host of other symptoms.
After two nights in the ICU at VMSG in Ventura, Shrimp is showing signs of improvement and has even begun to act like himself again, licking us and responding to his name - as well as being able to walk on his own.
As you can imagine the vet bills are astronomical, the initial estimate for all the treatments and 4 nights in the ICU are $8,308 - and some expensive immunosuppressing prescriptions will make that number grow even more. I will post the photo of the bill. However, Shrimp has a pet insurance plan that maxes out at $3,000 - and therefore we're capping the donation amount at 6k.
Shrimp is family. If you've ever been anywhere near him you know how special he is to us, and how much of a gift his presence is. I would sell my kidney for this dude, and there's nothing we won't do to keep him with us for as long as possible. He has been on tour with us, was at our feet for our wedding vows, greeted Madonna the second we brought her home from hospital - the list goes on.
Please donate whatever you can, helping us handle this sudden massive financial burden is what makes us all a family - and we are grateful for every dime of help from y'all.
Will keep updating everyone as we learn more.
Love,
Rachel, Tony, Madonna and of course Shrimp Toast.
