Hi, I’m Sierra! I graduated from the University of Kentucky in May of 2019 with a degree in Art Studio. Since then I've been working full time and trying to save money the best I can. I work in the event industry and COVID has effectively rendered me jobless (in a professional sense) until at least spring 2021. So I'm asking for your help in raising the money I need to repay my student loans so that I can return to school and finish my second degree.
I've been planning to go back to school this fall to study Materials Engineering and I was very excited to continue my education! But I recently learned that since I've graduated with one Bachelors degree and am seeking a second, I no longer qualify for federal financial aid. I now have to take out private loans from a bank. However, because of my accumulated student debt, current lack of income, and the fact that my repayment term had only just started before COVID hit the States, I haven't built up enough credit history to be approved for a private loan. With the position I'm in, I won't be able to return to school this fall. I'm frustrated but I'm not giving up!
My goal is to pay off the previous loans, which are about $42,000, so that I can get approval for funding on my final two years of school. I plan to complete some core classes at the local community college in the fall and then return to UK for the spring semester. I'll need to repay the loans by the end of August so that I'm able to enroll in classes.
I don’t have the best support system & financially my family isn't able to help me swing this one. Any help would be so much appreciated because I don't know what I'll do if I can't return to school.
