I am the director of the Star Of The Sea - Sea Cadet Corps. The Star Of The Sea - Sea Cadet Corps is a non-profit youth organization similar to the Navy & Marine Corps JROTC.
It opened in 1954 at St Frances de Chantal parish in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx and was initially a unit of the Catholic Sea Cadets of America, but shortly later became independent. It has helped thousands of young boys and girls into mature and responsible men and women.
During the 1990s it expanded and had four units with approximately 300 cadets, but greatly declined in size by the year 2000 due to shortage of equipment.
The money will be used to purchase new equipment for the band, color guard and drill teams.
We are trying to raise the funds by Christmas so that at the beginning of 2016, we can order new flags and music instruments.
This means a lot to me, because this program helped mold me into the Marine I became and has helped guide thousands of young men and women down the right path in life.
I would greatly appreciate any help we can get.
