Sounds Right x EarthPercent Fund for NATURE
We invite you to help us support and protect nature by donating much-needed funds for the world’s most precious and precarious ecosystems.
100% of the money raised will go to a conservation fund hosted by EarthPercent, the music industry’s climate foundation that redirects money to the most impactful environmental organisations.
Help us protect and restore nature, before it’s too late.
What is Sounds Right?
Sounds Right is a new global music initiative initiated by the Museum of the United Nations - UN Live in collaboration with global partners in music, ecology and conservation. Sounds Right enables NATURE to generate conservation funding from her own sounds. Launched in the lead up to Earth Day, the initiative aims to spark a global conversation about the value of nature and support millions of music fans to take meaningful action to protect our planet.
If you’ve landed here you’ve probably already been listening to the 15 tracks featuring NATURE, now an official artist. Or perhaps you’ve been listening to the 80+ ‘Ecosystem Tracks’ containing some of the world’s best field recordings from The Listening Planet and VozTerra.
If you’ve been listening to the tracks then you’ve helped raise funds for NATURE, the artist, and nature’s conservation. But this doesn’t match the urgency of the biodiversity and planetary crisis that we face.
The goal of this evergreen initiative is to activate fans, raise funds, spark a global conversation about how we value nature, and inspire a sense of agency in our collective efforts to protect the planet.
How & What We Fund:
Via the Sounds Right initiative, at least 50% of recording royalties from tracks that ‘Feat. NATURE’, 63% of recording royalties from ambient nature tracks and 100% of donations via this fundraiser will be donated to biodiversity conservation and restoration projects.
Our Sounds Right Expert Advisory Panel is a group of world-leading biologists, environmental activists, Indigenous People’s representatives, and experts in conservation funding.
All donations will be collected by EarthPercent and distributed to rights-based nature conservation and restoration projects in the world’s most precious and precarious ecosystems under the guidance of the Sounds Right Expert Advisory Panel.
The Sounds Right Expert Advisory Panel, chaired by Kavita Prakesh-Main, will consider projects with proven models of ecological and community impact, robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and that are delivered by organisations with the right capabilities.
Projects in ecosystems with the highest levels of biodiversity and endemism will be prioritised, with initial analysis identifying Key Biodiversity Areas in the following regions: Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands; Indo-Burma, India, and Myanmar; Sundaland; Philippines; Tropical Andes; and, the Atlantic Forest.
