Society for Urban Poor - Nepal
Donation protected
In Nepal, urban poverty is increasing at a rapid rate and many low-income families are struggling to survive. The children of these families lack both nutrition and education. According to the World Food Program, forty-one percent of children under five are stunted- short for their age - and 29% are underweight. The price of public school in Nepal is too high for these families and as a result Nepali Children are deprived of basic education, health, and access to resources. Education is necessary for any child who wants to grow out of his or her poverty and have a chance at a better future. In an attempt to combat child exploitation, the Society for the Urban Poor seeks to address the inequities amongst the urban poor and create a better future for the next generation with four education centers and numerous community outreach programs. SOUP's centers are more than just a hub of learning, they provide proper nutrition and act as a safe haven for children to escape from domestic abuse, drugs, and violence on the streets of Kathmandu. SOUP's primary goal is to help children, but they also empower mother's and other women in low-income communities by providing them with a job so that they can provide for themselves and their children. Due to a lack of funding, one of SOUP's four centers is closing down at the end of June. This means that 30 children will lose their opportunity to go to school and their mothers will be out of work, struggling to survive. We are reaching out from Kathmandu to ask you to help us make a difference in the lives of these children and support SOUP’s mission. We believe every child should have the opportunity to learn and receive an education. These children are dependent on SOUP and with your help this organization can continue to ensure their safety and provide opportunities for their future.

We invite everyone to join us by donating and sharing our page so we can ensure these children continue to receive the education they deserve. Any help(big or small) goes a long way and is greatly appreciated!
Infinite love and gratitude to all,
