South Central students attend Hamilton in Wichita

My name is Andi Dale and I have taught in Comanche County, KS for over 20 years. The last 4 years, I've had the privilege of teaching middle school Science and 8th grade Social Studies. Three of those years, I have used Hamilton, the musical, in my curriculum. After students have studied the American Revolution and before we talk about the Constitution and early Presidents, we spend about 2 weeks watching the musical and analyzing the history that's happening while also discussing the music, lyrics, dance, etc. Students have LOVED this unit and respond very well - often reporting back to me that they've watched the musical with their family, discussed the history at home or added it to their playlist. Their enthusiasm is encouraging.
Hamilton is finally touring and performing in June just two and a half hours away from our small, rural school - we have about 300 students enrolled in k-12. It's the opportunity of a lifetime for them to get to see a live performance. However, as many of you know, ticket prices for Hamilton can be prohibitive. I am asking students to pay $30 towards their ticket and we will be doing some local fundraising as well to cover the cost of the ticket, a meal and transportation.
I hope to be able to provide the opportunity for 40+ students to go this summer. Group tickets will go on sale in early February with the balance of our tickets due in March.
