Update 4/22: COVID slowed things down a bit, but we are steadily moving towards our goal!
-We were able to make our first run to an area in need in December, after tornadoes ripped through KY. We visited on two consecutive weekends, providing canned goods, toys, cleaning supplies, clothing and more, for displaced families right before Christmas. Thank you to Speedway Harley-Davidson and ProChef for making this run possible!
-Tow vehicle has been outfitted
-Overland trailer with stainless kitchen has arrived
-Numerous chefs have been added to the contact list
-SERN has become a legal entity
-A trial run has been made, feeding 135 Cub Scouts without power or running water on site, all resources were available on the trailer
-Local networks have been contacted to make them aware of our existence and willingness to assist in times of need
Southeast Emergency Response Network
Many hands make light work, and there has never been a time when we needed each other more.
With the recent increase in intense single-day precipitation events, tornado and hurricane formation, as well as river flooding, we have seen an extraordinary amount of communities in need of emergency assistance. My goal is to assemble a mobile kitchen and a network of volunteer chefs throughout the Southeast to provide relief for those in need following a disaster.
I realized, during the COVID-19 health crisis, that we don’t have time to wait for someone else to make our world better or safer. We need to meet the challenges of our times, head on, with a spirit of generosity and compassion for our fellow human beings.
My goal is to form a network of professional chefs and vendor partners throughout the Southeast, so that we can quickly react to disasters and provide immediate relief to emergency responders and displaced citizens. We will provide hot, nutritious meals to uplift and sustain them, as well as Wi-Fi and mobile device charging so that they can stay in touch with loved ones and one another as they work together towards recovery.
Our first response unit will be outfitted to provide 150 delicious, nutritious meals, free of cost to those in need. Meals will be safely prepared by trained culinary professionals who are outfitted to cook wherever they are needed. We will provide support and comfort for affected communities as they work towards recovery.
To make this goal a reality, I have created the Southeast Emergency Response Network, LLC.
I need your help. Please donate to the Southeast Emergency Response Network so that we can acquire the infrastructure to help communities in their time of need.
If you are a culinary professional or vendor in the Southeast that would like to be a part of our network, please email me at [email redacted], subject: SEERN. I would love to hear from you, as we build a network of chefs and vendor volunteers throughout the Southeast.
The next community in need could be your own. We want to be there to help.
