The South Florida Role Model Foundation was created to rebuild and restore the perception of Law Enforcement in the communities we serve. Each member has a vested interest in the people that live and work in our communities. We believe that CHANGE is a verb and can only come about through the efforts of our members. Every interaction with Law Enforcement is an opportunity to build trust. It is vital that our Vision is clear: “We are together - not us or them, but WE!” The South Florida Role Models come from various walks of life, ranging from law enforcement officers to single parents, young adults, male, female and the elderly. The knowledge of all must be harnessed together to bring CHANGE.
About Us
The South Florida Role Model Foundation’s founders are comprised of four deputy sheriffs, all of whom originated from lower-income communities here in South Florida. Growing up as a minority in South Florida has its challenges. We understand the dynamics of those challenges. With most of us growing up in single parent households, we are living, breathing examples that hard work, goals and dreams can make a difference in your future. Have we all had negative encounters with Law Enforcement? Yes, but we are here to change the narrative. We want our young adults to know that they can make it! Law enforcement isn’t out to get us. It is extremely important that we provide a positive example of how to interact with Law Enforcement, and in public in general. We want to be there to help young men tie their first tie. Or just sit down and be a good listener for a parent that is struggling with an adolescent. We are here to help, because we were there.
We are raising money to create pamphlets that illustrate positive interaction with Law Enforcement and a detailed guide that gives step by step instructions on how to file a complaint if you've been treated unfairly by the police. The funds will also go towards our Scholarship and award program.
We are also raising money to travel all over the country educating our fellow officers through Implicit Bias training, Stress Management training and a training program entitled "The battle between your ego and your fears."
Please help us reach every Police dept. and neighborhood in America through either our pamphlets, speaking engagements or training.
