Looted - 25 Years Lost to Looting, Chicago IL
Donation protected
After working long hours at the local Oscar Mayer factory, Woo scrimped and saved to start her own business and be a part of the American dream. Finally, she was able to open a little fashion store and has been working for over 25 years, selling her clothes to all the visitors of her little boutique. She loved what she did and said, "[it] was the best job she ever had in her life" and she described her customers as her angels.
On Sunday, May 31 around noon, looters broke into her store and took everything - even sample clothing right off the display mannequins. As she took stock of everything she lost, she was not angry. She deeply believes in the movement, but is also scared to go back to whatever new normal may come.
For Woo, this is a chance to start over. She came to America with a few dollars in her pocket and a will to dream. Now, almost three decades later, she has to start all over. Everyone is hurting, and she understands that. We made this GoFundMe for her because she would never ask anyone for help herself. If you can, please help a woman who spent her entire life being part of a community, and never looking back in anger. Thank you.
