South SLO County Grocery Coffee Breaks
Donation protected
Thank you for your interest in #GroceryCoffeeBreaks and, potentially, #GrocerStayCations !! Please note this is a two-part fundraiser and that only $2,400 is required to meet our primary objective. For more information, read the Primary and Secondary Objective information below.
Would you please consider a $3, $4 or $5 gift? This is all we need to meet the primary objective of this fundraiser!
Members of South County Chambers' Leadership Class II are working together to give a communal “thank you” to the grocery workers of South SLO County. These folks have worked tirelessly since the pandemic declaration, and have shown they are among the most brave, dedicated, selfless, patient and kind human beings in our region. The work is often quite thankless, and we feel that as a group they have been under-recognized.
Right now, the emphasis is on ensuring each of the grocery store employees from the eight (8) grocery stores in South San Luis Obispo County are recognized with a free coffee, tea or juice/smoothie break. Please share this fundraiser with either or both hashtags, if you are so inclined: #GroceryCoffeeBreaks or #GrocerStayCations.
Here are the 8 South County Grocery Stores for whom this effort is intended:
- Vons Grover Beach
- Vons Nipomo
- Aldi Arroyo Grande
- Trader Joe's Arroyo Grande
- Food4Less Arroyo Grande
- Smart & Final Arroyo Grande
- Grocery Outlet Arroyo Grande
- California Fresh Pismo Beach
Below, please find information with respect to our primary and secondary objectives.
*PRIMARY OBJECTIVE - Coffee, Tea or Juice Breaks for 800 individuals ($2,400.00)*:
- We will work with local coffee, tea and smoothie providers to get each of the 800 individuals working for these 8 stores a little bit of a treat during one of their scheduled breaks.
- We have a local print shop ready to put logos onto coupons, numbered 001 - 800 that will be given to each store to pass out to their employees in order to discourage anyone from exploiting the generosity of the coffee and juice vendors.
* If we fall short of this goal, Garing, Taylor & Associates, Inc. (GTA) is prepared to donate the rest of the funds needed to recognize each of the South County Grocery Employees with a Coffee Break.
**SECONDARY OBJECTIVE - Grand Prize Award Packages for 8 individuals (approximately $2,160.00)*:
- One night stay at a premium local hotel.
- One delivered meal for two.
- A gift basket including chocolates, wine and whatever else we can come up with.
**If we get here, it's a great thing. If we don't, we've still given the grocery industry some well-deserved recognition and a big thank you from the community.
In the event the we do raise the full $4,560, we are in contact with local hoteliers to get the best deal possible (Thank you Martin Resorts, Hilton Garden Inn (James Way), and SeaCrest Ocean Front Hotel), and we are presently working with local wineries, coffee shops and providers of other goodies for gift baskets. We will be asking each of the eight (8) South SLO County Grocery Stores to nominate 1 individual each who has really gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic – so we may reward them with a one night staycation.
The South County Leadership Team II thanks you for sharing, spreading the word, and (of course) your contributions. "In this together," is much more than a catch-phrase in this tightly-knit community. Thank you for your consideration of this most gracious gift. We hope to have all donations in place no later than 1pm on MONDAY, May 4, 2020.

As a side note, this leadership team raised more than $1,600 last week to #FeedTheNightShift at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital. At least 75 meals were delivered on Saturday evening, April 18, 2020 to a group of people on our front lines that have experienced quite a bit of difficulty obtaining groceries and meals since they work odd hours and many places are closed during their waking hours.
This is the second cause undertaken by a group of people that have only been working together since January. We're all so humbled by the strength and support demonstrated by the people of the South County. From the most humble and respectful regions of our hearts, we send the greatest thanks to the most amazing community of which we could ever dream to be a part.
With love, gratitude, vision and respect,
SSCC LC II
PS - If you cannot donate during these difficult times, do not fret. We sincerely appreciate your ability and willingness, however, to share this campaign with your social and professional networks.
