Southern Pines Skatepark Fundraising Drive

Want to join us in making a positive difference in the Southern Pines community? We are raising money to build an amazing and free public skatepark in Southern Pines, NC. Skaters for Moore Organization has partnered with the Friends of the Skateparks Foundation and the town of Southern Pines to design, raise funds, and build a free public skatepark at Memorial Park located on Morganton Road, between South Bennett Street and US Highway 1. This park is great for family outings, birthday parties, reunions, company outings, and group meetings. Amenities include playground equipment, a picnic shelter with grill, several picnic table and grill areas, restrooms, and lots of parking.
A well designed and built skatepark will be the perfect addition to Memorial Park. This project will have positive impacts for the entire town by lowering crime rates, increasing property values, and increasing tourism. Skateparks are multi use facilities that can accommodate skateboarders, bmx riders, inline skaters, roller skaters, and scooter riders. Skateboarding is the fastest growing sport in the world and is now an Olympic sport.
Our total project goal currently sits at $400,000. The Town of Southern Pines has earmarked $50,000, SFM & FSF have raised an additional $90,000, and was awarded a generous $200,000 matching grant from the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area CVB which brings our current total to $280,000. We need to reach an additional $60,000 in fundraising which will be doubled by the CVB grant to $120,000.

2nd Annual Lip Rippin’ Chicken Wing Cook OFF 2024
The Friends of the Skateparks along with our partners Skaters for Moore and Southern Pines Brewery are excited to bring the 2nd Annual Lip Rippin’ Chicken Wing Cook OFF! 30 of the wing teams will go head-to-head to win $1,000.00 cash purse, trophies, bragging rights, and prizes.
The 2nd Annual Lip Rippin’ Chicken Wing Cook OFF will deliver amazing chicken wings, skateboarding action, face painting, and a good time in a festival type atmosphere of live music, food trucks, local craft vendors, and games. We are expecting 3,000+ attendants, thousands of social media views, and extensive regional mainstream coverage. Fun for the entire family!
The best part of this festival event is that ALL the proceeds will go toward the funding of the Southern Pines Skatepark project. Friends of the Skateparks Foundation, (FSF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization so all sponsorships and donations are totally tax deductible.
