Southold NJROTC Orienteering Team

The Southold Navy Junior ROTC Unit is requesting your support. As you may know the unit’s mission is to develop citizenship in high school students. The unit is currently comprised of cadets from the Mattituck, Southold and Greenport High Schools. In an effort to give students greater after school and healthy activities an orienteering team was formed last year. Orienteering is a competitive sport that involves using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain. It combines the skills of cross country running, navigation and the ability to think under pressure while promoting teamwork and confidence. Due to the cadet’s hard work and dedication, the team was invited to compete at the NJROTC National Orienteering Meet 16 – 18 March 2024, to be held in North Carolina. In order to attend, the team must raise approximately $12,000. Any assistance in helping the cadets attend a once in a lifetime event would be greatly appreciated.
