We’re raising Hurricane Melissa relief funds, focusing on Luna Sea Inn staff and neighbors in the hardest-hit areas of southwestern Jamaica.
Update: As of January 2026, our communities are still without power. There is currently no reliable restoration date. We are renewing our fundraising to include the purchase of generators for our hardest hit neighbors.
On October 28, Hurricane Melissa made landfall just five miles from Luna Sea Inn. In just a few hours, our property and the entire community around us was torn apart.
Roofs are gone. Buildings are damaged. Homes are unlivable.
Our staff and neighbors are facing the unthinkable: lost income, destroyed homes, and a long road to recovery.
Luna Sea Inn will be closed for the foreseeable future as we begin repairs and work to support our team and our community. But in this moment of devastation, we’re holding onto hope, and asking for your help.
Every dollar will go directly to Luna Sea Staff and local community members for Hurricane Melissa relief:
- Emergency financial support for Luna Sea staff who have lost income
- Essential supplies for affected families
- Rebuilding and repair efforts for staff and community homes
- Long-term community relief and recovery
Our IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status application has been started for the long road of rebuilding after Hurricane Melissa. Acknowledgements will be provided and donations will become tax-deductible retroactively if our application is approved.
In the meantime, we've set up this page for immediate recovery needs. Funds will be managed transparently and distributed directly to those affected in southwestern Jamaica. No donation is too small. Every bit helps rebuild lives.
What We’ve Seen
The devastation is real: collapsed structures, water-damaged rooms, fallen trees, and debris everywhere. But so is the strength of our community. Neighbors have been helping neighbors, sharing food, clearing debris, checking on one another, and doing everything they can with what little they have left.
Hope After the Hurricane
The Luna Sea Inn has always been more than a business. It has been a family, a gathering place, and a source of joy for travelers and locals alike. We will rebuild. We will reopen. And with your help, we will make sure our staff and community get through this together.
Thank you for donating, sharing, and supporting us in our time of greatest need. Your kindness means more than you know.
