Space Hotel - A Sci-fi Comedy Web Series Animation
Think of a cross between The Office and Doctor Who –
Our cartoon web series follows the daily lives of the employees who work at said hotel, set in the year 3,019 C.E. (way far in the future). You’ll witness hijinks of all kinds, involving not only the employees who work there, but all the wacky guests and crazy secrets that lurk in the hotel’s facility.
Set inside a domed spaceship, Space Hotel wanders across the Milky Way, offering rooms for people and aliens from across the galaxy.
The series primarily follows the new front desk clerk – Job McCony. He hails from Earth, which has become a backwater planet by the fourth millennium. Job hasn’t gone to college yet because he’s still paying off his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-(you get the idea) ancestor’s college debt. His many co-workers at Space Hotel often create friction for him, such as the ever-joyful Mally Morrison.
Job also happens to get wrapped up in all the weird happenings at the hotel, such as long-forgotten alien pets in the basement.
SPACE HOTEL'S HISTORY
This project has been almost a decade in the making! Our creator Eddie conceived its main character way back in 8th grade and became serious about transforming him into something more mature at the tail end of his time at college. He started with nothing but what he could get from his day job, going around commissioning artists to draw these characters and try to find an animator. He’s gathered all of us together -- a dedicated group of voice actors and artists who fell in love with the story and its characters. The animation you see posted here and the animated gifs are by Anya (helloplanetpack.tumblr.com). Unfortunately, she could not commit long-term. The animator Neuroddic (@Neuroddic on Twitter) is now taking over, but we would need to attract more animators to bring this web series to life.
*Note that some styles may be subject to change with a new animator.
So without further ado, let us introduce to you the characters of the show!
THE MAIN CHARACTERS
JOB MCCONY
Voiced by Timothy Ward
The new front desk clerk at Space Hotel. He’s been busy paying off college debt. No, not his own college debt – his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-(and so forth)-ancestor’s college debt. He doesn’t plan on staying here for too long – just enough to start his future. If he can reach it.
Job is the everyman – he just wants to get through the day without any trouble. Of course, life will throw him everything it can, including but not limited to, hungry sleemoxes, murderous Gargonians, an inept boss, bureaucracy, and a good old-fashioned stoning.
MALLY MORRISON
Voiced by Jonathan Dame
The head custodian of Space Hotel. Mally has never once hated his job, and that really annoys virtually everyone else working at Space Hotel. He takes pride in cleaning up what he firmly believes is the best hotel in the galaxy. Socially oblivious, Mally sees the best in everyone and quickly warms up to Job, dubbing him his “best friend”.
KRIKKIT KRUSTOLIX
Voiced by Ty Scheuerman
Job’s co-worker at the front desk. Krikkit hates just about everyone except members of his own race – the Krustodians. Krikkit has fallen into hard times and has ruined most of his adult life (and soul) working at the same job. Job hopes not to be in Krikkit’s position in the future. Crabby, cynical, and downright mean-spirited, Krikkit is the last person in the galaxy you want to be working next to.
FRANK NIX
Voiced by Stu Franks
The manager of Space Hotel. His main goal in life is to transform Space Hotel into Space Resort – the Milky Way Galaxy’s first interstellar resort. However, he always has a million ideas bustling in his brain, and he can't quite seem to focus on the main goal, getting on everyone's nerves. Jolly and hearty, Frank is always trying to look for new ways to bring Space Hotel back to its glory days, no matter how crazy the plan is.
TOPPS
Voiced by Courtney Ferrucci
The head of Sentient Resources. She’s a state-of-the-art android programmed and designed for etiquette and protocol, remembering all known cultures in the galaxy and making sure the hotel is in its best shape. She acts more like the true manager of Space Hotel than Frank. She never ceases to be irritated by the antics of Job, Mally and Krikkit. Their annoyance frequently fries her emotional circuits, so she often breaks down. . .
TRISHA
Voiced by Kate Devorak
The lone security officer of Space Hotel. Trisha commands a series of drones to take care of any altercations at the hotel. Brief and impersonal, Trisha is difficult to become friends with – but she has a secret wild side at parties when she hits the bottle. Her tendency to shoot first and ask questions later gets in the way of her dreams of becoming an officer of Space Patrol.
CHETT VANGELIS
Voiced by Claire Bloom
The Space Patrol detective who frequents Space Hotel. She often gets wrapped up in any mysteries that happen at the hotel. Chett believes everything is connected, no matter how random the pieces may seem. Her investigations often seem pointless and long-winded to Trisha, but she could learn a few things from Chett’s attention to detail. Her superiors and fellow co-workers at Space Patrol often get annoyed by her (they’re really just jealous), resulting in her lounging around her favorite hotel with nothing much to do except solve the mysteries of the universe.
LIVIA STARGAZE
Voiced by Amanda King
Interstellar adventurer. Livia Stargaze ran away at an early age to explore the stars. She eventually grew out of her shell to become a Jack-of-All-Trades, going where the money went. She currently has her own podcast series titled "The Adventures of Livia Stargaze". We also eventually aim to animate her series after Space Hotel.
OTHER CHARACTERS
Marvin – the previous front desk clerk who periodically keeps returning to take his job back from Job, often in murderous ways.
Voiced by Greg Kennelty
Geoffrey Watkins – the head chef who hates children and pets and just wants to cater to the rich folk.
Voiced by Ty Scheuerman
Dr. Lovemore – the doctor in the med bay who can’t stop relating everything to her failed love life.
Voiced by Rosalie Fry
Richard – Dr. Lovemore’s ex-husband who keeps coming back.
Voiced by Cory Schultz
D.A.V.E. - Digital Audio Video Entertainer - the ubiquitous, friendly A.I. that helps all the guests at the hotel (and annoys the employees).
Voiced by Dave Bratton
Good old-fashioned villains and henchmen:
Voiced by Jeremias Brantholm and Stu Franks
Together, they all make up the wacky cast of Space Hotel.
