Help Spanky Get a Neuro MRI
Spanky is the goodest boy you have ever met. He has been a child to me for the past 11 years. His attitude toward life is just so special. He is hilarious. Spanky loves to ride on things that go “fast”. Riding lawnmowers are his absolute favorite. He’s a social butterfly, the life of the party who has made friends from all over the world. Spanky becomes super attached if you play fetch with him, he just wont stop. On his downtime, he nurses on his squeaky toys like he is still a puppy. Just a month ago he was running around the house chasing a laser pointer, playing tug-of-war with his sister, and a week ago he was playing in the mountains and swimming in the creek. (He LOVES) to swim even though he’s not very good at it. He is
I have given 100% into giving spanky the best life possible, and caring for his every breed specific need. From monthly prescription dog food specialized for his joints, to joint medication, etc. I knew that owning a bulldog would not be cheap, but I committed to do whatever it takes to care for this boy the rest of his life.
With that being said, this past week Spanky has had a very unexpected and sudden change in health. 1 week ago we were playing in a meadow and he was the happiest dog in the world. 5 days ago, he got very tired much sooner than usual at his age. It was odd for him to bark the way he did and have me carry him back to the car. I just thought he was tired. 4 days ago he started acting like he didn’t want to walk at all, I thought he was just really worn out. 3 days ago he started limping, So I thought maybe he had hurt himself in the meadow, I started keeping a close eye on him. 2 days ago he started dragging his back legs and was also acting very disoriented and confused. Yesterday he acted the same and also started falling over when standing. I decided first thing in the morning I would take him to his veterinarian. Today was awful. Spanky can stand for about 6 seconds every couple hours and then falls, he is now dragging his front legs, he is completely disassociated, acts very confused. He also has no bladder control. I took him to his Dr. Over the next few hours she ran all of the tests. Concluding that all of his organs and limbs are fine, that this was neurological. He needs to see a specialist ASAP. How fast his health has declined in one week, has our Dr. very worried. The specialist is in Sacramento. It costs around $300 to get him into emergency. Then an additional $4,000 for general anesthesia, MRI/Brain scans. From there depending on what the issue is, and what action they will take will take (I.E. immediate surgery) can cost up to $8,000. I am asking for your help to raise ANYTHING for my Spanky. The goal would be to just get today’s visit, Anesthesia for the MRI, and the MRI itself covered. I will figure out what to do when the time comes for the prognosis. Any dollar amount will help us. Those of you who know me, know I don’t ask for money, but you also know I am a cosmetologist who has lost my income for the past two months due to COVID. Spanky is my child, and this was a last resort for this emergency. I honestly truly feel that if we can find out what is wrong-and fix it, Spanky will be back to his spunky, larger than life happy self and have a few amazing wonderful golden years left in him. Any donation you can make will help me get my boy to the Neurologist. Thank you so, so much, with all of our love.
