Sparkle for Julia

We are a group of friends who love Julia and the Failla family. Greg and Katrina Failla have touched so many lives in our Ramona community by pouring into our children and others by sharing God’s love throughout the years.

The raised funds will help support the Failla’s medical expenses for Julia, which have totaled $100,000+ for the past five years.

Julia is fighting to recover from chronic Lyme disease. Lyme disease has mild effects in the majority of the population, especially when diagnosed quickly and treated with the right course of antibiotics, but for some people, Lyme disease becomes a chronic illness with devastating co-infections and relentless pain. This is Julia's story. Julia was a healthy, thriving teenager (as seen in her photo) and was on her way to becoming a Division 1 scholarship tennis player at a top university. As is often the case with undiagnosed Lyme disease, Julia was misdiagnosed for years and she faced increasing neurological challenges and pain. Remarkably, even though she had to give up tennis, she persevered to graduate high school as valedictorian of her class. Julia's parents, family, and community have been supporting Julia in getting her the treatments she needs, while she works on an online undergraduate degree, but these treatments are expensive, and shockingly, treatments for chronic Lyme are not covered by our healthcare system because there is no "diagnostic code" for this awful disease.
