SPAY PROJECT in Hungary
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Reka, and this year for my 24th birthday (on Aug 25), I would like to urge everyone to contribute to a cause very dear to my heart.
For anyone who doesn't know me, on top of my "real" job, I spend most of my time volunteering for FAPF. I hope anyone who I have managed to help or give a positive impact to would consider donating to my cause :)

Unfortunately, the situation of animal welfare is extremely dire in Hungary. Zsanett gets 10+ calls per day, full of desperation, people begging us to help save animals suffering on the street or being abused by their neighbour or even their own families. I have personally driven dogs from the street to the hospital with bullets in their bodies, with legs that needed to be amputated, dogs so skinny they can't stand up anymore, newborn puppies who died in my arms and the list goes on... these dogs do not need to be born... we must stop this cycle of suffering by putting an emphasis on spaying to prevent unwanted litters.
All of the rescue organisations in the country are full, so we have to say no over and over again. Every single time we say no to a request for help, we know for sure that animal won't survive. And yet we have no space, or resources to rescue every dog who meets us.
There is a small town near Fuzesabony, where if you walk through 3 streets, you see dogs who are only skeletons, on few cm long chains, with young puppies trying to nurse from their frail bodies. Usually some of the litter is already dead, laying next to their siblings... the sight is absolutely mortifying and heartbreaking.

A little puppy we found next to all of her dead siblings..
While we can't physically do more to rescue these dogs, we can PREVENT future suffering. Sadly the government isn't doing anything at to fix the animal welfare issue in the country, so we must take matters into our own hands.
Just on these three streets in this ONE town... if we manage to spay 50 dogs, it means next year we will prevent 400 (!!!) puppies being born into this suffering.
Of course, it seems like a small move to spay 50 dogs, but we believe this is the best and only way to battle the suffering around us. There is no other way to stop the cycle.
The plan is to spay 50 dogs in this area by the end of December 2023. Each dog we take to get spayed will also receive a microchip and vaccination (which is mandatory but sadly not enforced at all in our country).
The total cost per dog will be 50,000 huf = 130 euro.
One dog can have up to 10 litters in their lifetime. This means each 130 euro spay procedure we can do, will prevent around 80 puppies being born into suffering.
I appreciate your support and help on this. We will keep the fundraiser
updated with photos and stories about those who could become a part of this project.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
-Reka :)
