Help Diverse, Independent Literature Thrive

In the spring of 2023, Small Press Distribution (SPD) kicked off the biggest innovation in its more than 50-year history, SPD Next, designed to provide 21st-century publishing technologies and practices for hundreds of small and independent publishers. We are embarking on the next phase -- SPD Next Page -- to raise an additional $75,000. This funding will empower SPD to shift its focus onto rolling out modern, tried-and-true practices (expanding print-on-demand, eBooks, audiobooks, global distribution) and offering trainings that were unaffordable to many presses until now.

We want to ensure that SPD Next Page meets its goal of $75,000 to continue empowering small presses across the country to grow, thrive, and bring new and marginalized voices to readers In a time of publishing industry consolidation, increasingly monopolistic distribution channels and frightening censorship and book banning targeting minority communities of all kinds.

SPD is the largest nonprofit in the country dedicated to ensuring diverse literary communities can fully participate in a marketplace dominated by well-heeled corporate publishers. As a nonprofit, SPD has always depended on philanthropy and small donors to help fulfill its mission.
