Spec Haus

Miami's music scene, specifically Kendall's and other suburban parts of South Florida, have been thriving on DIY spaces, house parties, and backyard shows for ages.   We are a team made up of people who liked to throw and attend those backyard shows, loved it actually. The shame is that they'd get shut down by noise complaints from neighbors, cops show up, and you can't have them very often. What if the energy and freedom of those shows could be captured in a permanent venue by the artists, for the artists? That's what we're aiming to accomplish, and why this Gofundme exists. We are looking to open a space in Kendall to host shows, local and touring acts, along with dozens of other events (art shows, movie nights, open mics, karaoke, plays, yoga classes, listening parties, anything that comes to mind really!). We want the space to be a serious venue just as much as it is a place where the community of creative people in this city can meet, exchange ideas, work, hang out, and have a good time. Bands will be treated like the stars they are just as much as friends. Artists will be venerated for their talent and work, and able to relax in the comfort of the acceptance we hope this venue will stand for. We want all-ages audiences to feel comfortable going out to a show without fear of danger or judgement. From the backyard to a real space, this is the dream we want to accomplish. The money will be used for the initial rent/fees of the location. We will also be hosting local shows to raise money for these efforts, as well as making a personal investment with our own money. To crowdfund at least $2000 would really be amazing though and be an indescribable help to us!
