Special Forces Afghan Interpreter

Donation protected
ALL,

This isn't likely the best time to start a gofundme with the state of the economy and inflation but timing is never right for these things.

I'm fundraising money for Haji Najeeb Ullah Mashwani, our interpreter and Commando from Camp Dyer, FOB Fenty, Jalalabad, Afghanistan. We've been working to get Najeeb and his family of six a Special Immigrant Visa for about a year and it finally came through. After numerous letters, emails, phone calls, and administrative crap, everything came to fruition. We moved Najeeb and his family from Afghanistan to Pakistan while his SIV was being finalized, which was a to-do in itself. Now that he and his family have an approved SIV, they are scheduled to come to the United States (Seattle) near the end of March.

Najeeb started off as an Afghan Commando, fighting alongside Special Forces in Afghanistan since the start of the war back in 2001. In January, 2008, Najeeb was fighting alongside A Co 3 Bn 3rd SFG in Kunar Province when SSG Robert Miller was killed and posthumously received the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Najeeb fought in many battles alongside his American counterparts. He was also there to move a US journalist, helping her escape the Taliban and hiding her in his home to keep her safe until the Taliban went away (WaPost - Ann Scott Tyson).

Najeeb sharpened his English language skills and worked as the lead interpreter for Special Forces, primarily accompanying ODA Leadership on Key Leader Engagements, Combat Patrols, and Direct Action Operations. Najeeb has worked with and supported literally every Special Forces Group to have ever been assigned to Jalalabad, Afghanistan. His support to American forces in Afghanistan cannot be overstated or described in to words.

We left Najeeb and his family high and dry upon leaving Afghanistan without a plan. We worked day and night as part of the Pineapple Express to get him and his family out of Kabul in 2021, but despite getting many out, he was temporarily left behind. As you can imagine, it costs money to move someone to another country and to pay for them to live when there is no source of income. We are looking to help Najeeb and his family come to the United States with a little security. Not that we can ever repay him for the security he provided to us, but this is the least we can do.

This is the compound where we almost lost Cadre Rick down a well in the middle of the night ^^.

For GoFundMe compliance, I'm including additional information in order for them to approve this fundraiser:
1. Who you are and where you are from: My name is Jason Coombs and I'm from the United States.
2. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: I worked alongside Najeeb while in the Army and have helped him get his SIV application approved. We are friends.
3. Your plan to send the funds to the intended recipients, and their names: I plan to send the money to Najeeb Mashwani and his family. They are arriving in the United States at the end of March and I plan to transfer money raised directly to a newly created US bank account that he owns and is under his control.
4. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): Najeeb will use the money raised to help support his family upon their arrival to the United States; food, rent, utilities, etc.
