Speckle's Fight for Survival

Donation protected
For those of you that don’t know my mother, she is an animal lover. Her animals are her children. So you can only imagine the horror she felt when she found Speckles and Chi Chi not only caught in coyote traps behind her house but shot in the head and left for dead. The person responsible for this cruelty supposedly placed the traps out for skunks. Neither one of these dogs even slightly resemble a coyote and also have collars with tags on them. So instead of contacting the owners and explaining what happened, he decided to shoot them both in the head.

Speckles has been a member of our family for about 8 years now. We found him when he was about 5 months old chained in the middle of a yard in about a foot of snow with no shelter. He suffered from frostbite on his back legs which he never gained full function but that didn’t stop him from living. He loved hiking, swimming, and playing with our other “faminal” members. In October 2015 he was shot and crawled his was back to the house and laid by our front porch. We found his collar about 100 yards from where we found him. The vet was able to save him but his leg had to be amputated. For a second time in less than a year speckles is fighting for his life due to human cruelty.

Chi Chi was sent to a neurologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico to fight for her life. The bullet was lodged in her brain which was unrepairable. Speckles is still at the Salazar Vet clinic fighting for his life. They have not been able to do any surgery at this time because he is having seizures from the brain injury.

My mom has lost one dog because of this heartless person and is not giving up on speckles. We are asking for donations to assist us with the vet bills so she can focus on helping him fight for his life. Any bit that goes unused with be donated to the local animal shelter. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated.
